First, the important part

It is not your fault. And it can be dealt with. Sharing intimate images without consent is a criminal offence in Spain, and so is threatening to share them in order to demand money. If someone is blackmailing you: do not pay, do not delete the messages and stop talking to that person. Write to us and we will tell you what to do, step by step.

We work remotely and in English, so it does not matter which country you live in. If the content is on Spanish websites or platforms, or you are being targeted from Spain, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) protects you whatever your nationality.

What we do in the first few hours

  1. We listen in complete confidence, by WhatsApp or phone, without judgement.
  2. We preserve the evidence (dated screenshots, links, profiles) so that you can report it to the police if you wish.
  3. We help you use the priority channel of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), which allows you to request the urgent removal of sexual or violent content shared without permission. It is free, and we also do this part free of charge.
  4. We request removal from the websites, social networks, forums and channels where it has been posted.
  5. We keep watch over the following months in case it reappears.

Deepfakes too

If someone has created a fake image or video with your face using artificial intelligence, the process is the same: it is treated as intimate content shared without consent and it can be removed.

If you are under 18

Talk to an adult you trust. In Spain you can call 017, the cyber security helpline run by INCIBE, Spain's national cyber security institute (free and confidential). We can also help your parents or guardians.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to report it to the police?

It is not required in order to request removal, but it is advisable if there is blackmail or there are threats. We help you prepare the evidence so that the report is useful.

How much does it cost?

The first contact and the help with the AEPD priority channel are free. If the content is on many websites and removal and monitoring work is needed, we give you a fixed quote in writing after the free analysis, before we start.

Will anyone else see the images?

Only what is strictly necessary to identify the content and request its removal. We never keep copies of the images; we work with the links.

Is it a crime to share intimate photos without consent?

Yes. Article 197.7 of the Spanish Criminal Code punishes sharing intimate images without permission even if they were obtained with your consent, for example if you sent them to a partner. Threatening to publish them to get money or anything else from you is also a crime.

What should I do if I am being blackmailed with intimate photos?

Do not pay, do not delete the messages and stop replying. Paying almost never ends the blackmail and usually leads to new demands. Keep the evidence, write to us and we will tell you what to do step by step, including how to report it if you want to.

What is the AEPD priority channel?

It is a route offered by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) to request the urgent removal of sexual or violent content published without consent. The Agency can ask platforms to remove it immediately. It is free and we help you use it, wherever you live.

How long does it take to remove an intimate video?

The large platforms and the AEPD priority channel usually act within hours or a few days. If the content has been copied to many websites, especially outside Europe, the work can take weeks. Our first response is the same day.

Can I stop my photos being uploaded to social media before it happens?

Partly, yes. There are tools such as StopNCII, which create a digital fingerprint of your images on your own device, without uploading them, so that participating platforms can block them from being posted. We help you use it if you fear someone may share them.

What if it is a fake image or a deepfake with my face?

You can also request its removal. A sexual fake made with your face affects your privacy, your image and your reputation, and platforms treat it as non-consensual intimate content. It may also be a crime, so it is worth keeping evidence for a police report.

Will anyone find out that I have requested removal?

No. Requests are confidential and the platform does not tell the person who posted the content who asked for it to be removed. We do not share your case with anyone without your permission either.

What if the victim is under 18?

It is treated as child sexual abuse material and has top priority for platforms and the police. It must always be reported. There is also a tool called Take It Down, designed for images of minors, and we help you use it.
